Leadership announcement

A message from Rowena Chan, President, Sun Life Financial Distributors (Canada) Inc., Senior Vice-President, Retail Advice & Solutions.

Change to Canada Post delivery for digitized policy booklets

Policy booklets are currently available on Suncentral to review with Clients digitally within one business day after policy issue. As of March 1, we’ll be switching from courier to Canada Post delivery for policy booklets, where the digital version is available on Suncentral.

We encourage you to use digital copies of policy booklets for review with Clients when possible. These are currently available on Suncentral one business day after policy issue. In instances where policy booklets are not digitized (i.e. medical evidence isn’t disclosed to the advisor), they’ll continue to be delivered by courier.

This change supports you in driving more Clients toward digital options while delivering a more modernized, flexible Client experience.

Please reach out to our Advisor Experience Team for any questions.

Updated paper application for life and critical illness insurance

A new version of the paper application for life and critical illness insurance has been available starting on February 9.

We’re updating the application to provide an experience similar to Sun eApp. This includes:

  • An improved layout in the Insurance history section
  • Adding clarifying questions to confirm residency status for Clients who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Adding foreign net worth for a better understanding of Clients’ financial situations
  • Adding new employment statuses (maternity/paternity leave, disability leave)
  • Removing a question about past travel
  • Removing the Sun Par Accelerator product information, as it’s no longer offered
  • Revised wording throughout to align with Sun eApp

Review Child Term Benefit on in-force policies

Regularly review in-force life insurance policies with Child Term Benefit (CTB) attachments to ensure Clients are not paying for protection they no longer need.

Registered mail sent to Clients for potential Personal Health Insurance (PHI) lapse notices

As of February 27, we’ll let Clients know about potential lapses in PHI coverage by registered mail or courier. Clients will need to sign for these letters, confirming they’ve received them.

The email notices you receive as an advisor aren’t changing. We’ll continue to notify you through email if there’s a problem with a Client’s coverage.

Unlock Advisor Learning Navigator potential with new CE resources and tutorials to help you grow!

Introducing a new suite of resources to help you make the most of Advisor Learning Navigator (ALN) and easily find CE-accredited courses. Designed with your success in mind, these enhancements will help you easily maximize your career advancement opportunities and save time.

We’ve listened to your feedback: Since launching ALN, we’ve added 60+ new CE courses to the platform, with even more exciting additions coming soon! This expansion aligns with our commitment to meeting your evolving learning and growth needs.
