Financial Literacy Month 2020 - Thank you!

Financial Literacy Month is wrapping up on Financial Advice for All, and we are pleased to celebrate another year of exceptional content driven by membership.

On behalf of Advocis, I would like to thank you for your contribution. Whether you submitted material for our campaign directly or helped us share it on social media, we appreciate it. We also appreciate the work you've done with your clients throughout November to bring financial literacy to the forefront of your practice.

Member & Guest Expert Articles

Released twice a week during each week of November, our Member & Guest Expert Articles offered insights to consumers on a variety of topics related to financial literacy. If you missed out on a few of them as they were posted, here are links to each:

Instagram Live Show

In this weekly show on Wednesday afternoons, members of Advocis and special guests joined us LIVE to talk about one of our weekly subthemes of Money Basics, Buying Basics, Planning Basics and Life Event Basics. If you weren't able to join us, please enjoy our recordings of the session on YouTube:

Podcast Episodes

The Advocis Podcast returned with a two-part series on financial literacy, addressing the topic of what financial literacy was like in 2020 - especially as advisors assisted their clients through the challenges of COVID-19.

Host Al Jones was joined on both episodes by a panel which included members Will Britton, Jackie McCann-Scott, Jennifer Murphy and Seema Sharma. Check out both episodes on our Soundcloud page:

jFA Video Series

Our themes and subthemes for Financial Literacy Month this year are not only related to the importance of fundamentals in a pandemic - they're also a celebration of the integration of basic financial literacy into school curriculums in Ontario and Alberta!

To recognize this, we commissioned a new video series starring the people who represent the future of financial literacy across Canada: Your kids!

Four videos were compiled and released, each tackling a different set of questions on how kids see the world of financial advice. Have a look at each of the videos on our YouTube channel here:

Stephen Lecce - Thank You

To thank our Junior Financial Advisors for participating in the jFA video series, Ontario Minister of Education Stephen Lecce recorded a video as well! Click on the link below to view:

We hope that both these new and our existing resources on Financial Advice For All were a valuable asset to you in November, and that they will continue to engage you and your practice as you work with clients to engage them on the vital issue of financial literacy.
