The 12^th Annual Advocis Regulatory Affairs Symposium will provide a virtual platform for financial industry leaders to discuss the impact of upcoming regulatory changes within the sector on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. EST.

This year, Symposium will offer two sessions:

Panel 1: What's in a Name?

Advocis has been pushing for higher professional standards for over a decade. Ontario took a major step towards this by moving to regulate the titles of financial advisor and financial planner. This panel explores how title protection will work. What are the implications for advisors and their clients? What does the consultation get right or wrong, and what questions remain unanswered? And most importantly, when it’s all said and done, do consumers stand to benefit?

Panel 2: Regulation in the Time of Covid

The world has been turned upside down in the past year. The global pandemic has forced us all to rethink how we live and work. At the same time, the beat of regulation marches on, and longer-term projects like the CSA’s client-focused reforms and the CCIR’s fair treatment of customers are still underway. This panel explores how three leading companies have stepped up to the challenge of COVID-19 while still preparing for the regulatory road ahead.
